Soft Summer Sunset Inspired Seasonal Florals for Outdoor Wedding at Silchester Farm
With buckets full of soft summer floral ingredients, back in August the Made with Grace team headed to the fanciest of Hampshire farms - Silchester Farm to create the bespoke wedding florals for F & C.
This lovely couple are founders of a business within the environmental sector, so naturally, sustainability was a key thread throughout their day. They came to MWG with a vision of soft summer sunset tones, wild textures, and meaningful floral design and details that would frame and soften the most iconic moments of the celebration, whilst being reflective of the season and responsibly sourced.
In this post, I’m sharing professional images by Romy Lawrence and some of the floral highlights from the day, along with a closer look at the seasonal flowers and details that brought this celebration to life and made the couple say -
“Grace, thank you a million times over. You made us so excited for the flowers and helped ease the overwhelm in the lead up to the wedding. Sending through some sneak peaks from your studio in the lead up days was really appreciated and it was amazing seeing the vision all come to life. Everything was so much better than I ever expected, absolutely stunning. I loved my bouquet so so much, which featured several varieties of my favourite flower - dahlias and I had it professionally preserved so I could treasure it for longer!”
From the very start, F & C knew they wanted florals to feature as an intentional part of the celebration, backdroping and framing key moments, creating intrigue, softening and botanical immersion.
The Bouquets, Aisle & Ceremony Floral Installations & Table Styling
The bride’s bouquet had a textural, sculptural aesthetic in a soft and romantic palette. It was filled with the brides favourite dahlias, including specialty varieties of cafe au lait, along with delicate delphiniums, cotinus and grasses. The bouquet was so beloved that the bride had it on her for a lot of the day (photo evidence!) and following the wedding had it professionally preserved.
For the outdoor ceremony, we designed a broken floral arch that climbed the sides of the wooden arbour to create softening and framing and bring through the colour palette of the day. A series of meadow designs lined the aisle, further enhancing the framing and ambience.
In the dining barn, to complement the square tables and bring the colour and botanical softness through, we created rectangular table centres which were then paired with tall luxury taper candles in a soft green adding romantic ambience and glow as the evening came.
Seasonal British Grown Florals and Sustainable Design
With sustainability a shared value of Made with Grace and the bride and groom, a major goal of the day was to incorporate as many British grown flowers as possible. Sourcing from our trusted network of Surrey and Sussex flower farms we managed to get a hold of many beautiful, delicate and luxury floral ingredients. Including-
Dahlias – The bride’s favourite flower, luckily perfectly in season in August. Typically they are celebrated for their large size, sculptural petals and bright and bold colours but for F the softest varieties were sought, including the striking blush, often very tricky to source, cafe au lait, thank you to Susie, one of our go-to Surrey growers.
Cosmos – Featured within the ceremony installation. Delicate and whimsical, these dainty daisy like blooms move with the breeze and bring gardenesque romance.
Smokebush – Featured throughout the floral designs of the day this fluffy texture has a really short season so it was a case of celebrating it where you can! Using ingredients like smokebush that is only available for a few weeks of the year allows for a special sentimental connection and yearly association to the memories of the day.
Every design as always was created foam-free using reusable, sustainable mechanics and techniques.
F & C’s summer wedding at Silchester Farm was a joyful celebration backdropped with soft, seasonal floral beauty that framed and elevated the moments and memories of the day. Thank you F & C for all the trust and kindness!
