A Seasonal, Lush Countryside Inspired Marquee Wedding in Sussex Filled with Abundant and Sustainable Large Floral Installations

The wedding season here at Made with Grace has been a big one! Our largest weddings, floral installations, bounties of seasonal and British flowers and meticulously crafted designs to date.  Among the highlights of the season was S & E’s wedding set in the heart of the Sussex countryside in a marquee in the ground of their families farmhouse, where the surrounding nature provided the inspiration and stunning backdrop to their celebration.  

Crafting a Nature Softened and Immersive Marquee Experience

S & E approached Made with Grace wishing to bring colour, a sense of intimacy and botanical warmth into their sailcloth marquee. They wanted a transformation, immersion, and their words ‘forest like feel’ and ‘big greenery energy’.

Marquees are large, tall and versatile canvases. They can also bring a sense of overwhelm to couples of what to actually do in the space, and that’s where connecting with a floral designer comes in! Marquees offer vast opportunity and it was really exciting expressing and developing ideas with the couple to both celebrate and complement the surrounding nature, create zoning and interest in the space and complement the colour palette and relaxed, ethereal aesthetic running through the landscape of the day. With thoughtful and intentional design underpinning the florals crafted there was a lovely sense of harmony both within and beyond the marquee.

Using Multiple Large Floral Installations to Zone, Frame & Style the Spaces 

At the entrance, a huge floral archway welcomed guests. It was an abundant gateway of branches, trailing foliage, seed heads, delicate grasses and seasonal blooms. Inside the marquee, suspended foliage installations were created to form a canopy above the dining space and the bar, crafted with various seasonal greenery and vines. Very petite floral varieties that appear more as a textural fuzz (don’t know how better else to describe it!) in lilacs and white, were woven through to bring a gentle colour contrast and complement to the colour palette that ran through the table florals and bridal party bouquets. 

There was so much floral impact to be found above that for the banquet dining table styling we opted for a more minimal and delicate floral touch in the form of petite summer blooms and grasses in vintage stone bottles. Gingham napkins, coloured glassware and cordless lamps (from the MWG collection) further contributed to the styling and warmly welcoming ambience of the dining experience.  

Blousy, Delicate, Seasonal Flower Stem filled Bridesmaid and Bridal Bouquets 

Complementing S’s elegant, beautifully draping silk bridal gown from Heart Aflutter Bridal Studio and the bridesmaids mismatched dresses the bouquet aesthetic was really textural and ethereal, featuring loads of whimsical style ingredients that had beautiful movement, blouse and fragrance. 

The bride's favourite daisies were incorporated along with British corncockle, multiple foliages, and deliciously scented sweet peas, even managing to get a few of the MWG home grown ones in there!  

Sustainable Made Foam Free Floral Installations and Celebrating of Seasonal British Grown Flowers

As always, in adherement to the MWG commitments to sustainability and eco conscious practice, all floral designs were created using entirely foam-free methods, with every element constructed with minimal waste and maximum impact in mind.
